A Planner Built By Flower Farmers, For Flower Farmers

I’m Katrina, owner of Yarrow & Rye and creator of the Intentional Flower Farm Planner. I’ve spent the last four years building and refining this tool alongside flower farmers across North America, combining real-world experiences and feedback to make it as helpful as possible for small-scale farmers just like you!

I created this planner because I know how overwhelming it can be to manage your farm without the right tools. After struggling through my first season with no system and trying to keep track of everything from growing info to sowing schedules and stem pricing, I realized there had to be a better way.

I designed this planner to be an all-in-one, intuitive solution that saves you time, minimizes stress, and helps you make better decisions for your flower farm. Whether you’re a seasoned pro or just getting started, this planner will give you everything you need to stay organized, plan strategically, and make the most out of every growing season.

    • Flower farmers who value systems and structure: If you're looking to get organized and want to streamline your farm’s operations, this planner will guide you through planning your growing season with intention.
    • Farmers looking to grow their business: Whether you’re just starting out or scaling your operation, this planner will help you plan for growth and profitability.
    • Farmers overwhelmed by spreadsheets, loose papers, and scattered notebooks: If you’re feeling lost in the chaos of paper and want to go digital with your planning, this planner will bring all your tasks, events, and goals together in one clean, easy-to-use system.
    • Farmers who need a flexible, easy-to-update system: If you like the idea of having a planner that can evolve with your business and that you can easily modify and customize to your changing needs, this planner is for you.
    • Farmers who want to plan with intention: If you’re ready to be more strategic about your growing season and work with a planner that helps you align your actions with your long-term farm goals, this planner will help you stay on track.
    • Farmers with unique needs: Flower farms come in all shapes and sizes, with different experience levels, growing zones, products, and offerings. I know that no two flower farms are the same, so I’ve designed the Intentional Flower Farm Planner to be adaptable and customizable to fit a variety of small-scale operations.
  • Who's the planner not for?

    • Massive, multi-acre flower farms: While this planner is scalable, large farms with complex, multi-team operations may need something more robust. We hope to be able to offer a planner in the future that's geared towards larger operations.
    • Farmers who don't have access to a desktop computer or laptop: Although you can access and use many features of this planner on your mobile device, initial setup must be done on a desktop/laptop for ease of use.
    • Farmers who prefer paper planners: This is a digital planner that runs on Notion (which is free to use!). If you’re not interested in using digital tools for planning, this may not be the right fit for you.
    • Farmers who do not like learning new tools/technology: Like with any new tool or technology, there will be a bit of a learning curve, but I have created a very in-depth written guide and video tutorials to walk you through the entire setup process!
    • Farmers who don’t have time for planning: This planner is designed to help you get organized and plan ahead. If you're not ready to make time for intentional planning, it might not be a great fit for your current needs.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does the planner cost and is there a subscription fee?

The Intentional Flower Farm Planner is just $47 CAD (approximately $33 USD), and it’s a one-time purchase. There’s no recurring subscription fee, however, Notion does offer an optional upgrade for about $10 per month, but it’s not necessary unless you plan to add multiple team members, upload files larger than 5MB, or explore advanced features like complex automations.

How do I use the planner?

The planner uses an app called Notion, which is free to sign up for and use. You can sign up at www.notion.so.

What if I need help or have questions about how to use the planner?

I’m here to help! If you have any questions, feel free to email me directly at katrina@yarrowandrye.ca, and I’ll get back to you as soon as possible. You can also join our Facebook group! Search for Intentional Flower Farming: Planning & Organization by Yarrow & Rye on Facebook!

What does it mean that parts of the planner are in beta mode?

As a perfectionist, I want every part of this Template to function seamlessly, but I also know how valuable these tools are, even in their current form. The Crop & Bed Planner and Fall Planting sections are fully-functional but are still being refined for the best possible experience. Rather than holding back these features until they are “perfect,” I’ve chosen to release them now so you can start using them right away.

Will I need to repurchase the Template when updates are made?

No! All future updates and refinements to the Template will be included at no additional cost. As improvements are made, you’ll have access to every new release so you can continue benefiting from the latest and best version. I will send you an email if and when updates are made in the futre.

Is the planner difficult to set up?

Although the planner will take you a little bit of dedicated time to set up for your farm, it is not difficult to do so. I have included in-depth video tutorials and written guides to walk you through the entire process!

Can I export my data to Excel/Google Sheets?

Yup, and I'll show you how to do so inside of the planner! You can use your data to create pivot tables inside of Excel/Google Sheets to better understand your data season over season.

Is the planner customizable?

You bet! Once you get a handle on how the planner functions inside of Notion, there are all sorts of crazy cool things you can do inside the planner. All the info is 100% customizable so you can easily edit and add your own info to suit your farm's needs.

Can I use the planner on my phone?

Yes, there are many features that work well on mobile, but initial set up must be done on a desktop computer or laptop. That being said, after setup, you can use most (if not all) of the sections of your planner via your mobile device. You can download Notion's free app to get started!

Is there a metric version of the planner?

Yes! As of March 1, 2025, we have now included a metric edition of the planner. When you purchase, you will have access to both the imperial and metric versions.
